Not too impressed. The biggest one they left out that chills is the scene in 3 Men and a Baby, where grandma picks up the baby and passes in front of the can see a boy standing there, partially concealed by the curtain. The studio tried to pass that off as a cardboard prop; no boy of that age in the movie. Check it out sometime. I remember when I first saw that insidious scene of the kid in the backround, that always creeped me out and i wondered if it was there by accident.

I looked 4 times and I didn't see the satellite falling. But I feel like when I watched the movie I did. Next time maybe help us along. This is for people who haven't read the book and were completely confused by "I'm Thinking of Ending Things."
1. Jake's girlfriend (Louise) does not exist. She is a figment of his imagination. He met her at a bar as he recounts but never mustered the courage to ask her out. The narrative builds on the future they might have had if they were together.
2. Jake is a failure, a disappointing janitor with his whole life filled with regret. He wanted to be educated, he wanted to paint (the paintings in the basement were his) but he never amounted to anything in his life.
3. The ending is different, Charlie Kaufman's own interpretive understanding of Jake's life. His movies are, honestly not for everyone. However, this movie takes itself way too seriously quoting and discussing references from literary works and operas that you definitely need to have read and studied in order to understand any obscure reference.
This was my most anticipated movie in September, as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was an evergreen movie to me. But by the time this ended, I had a severe headache and was terribly frustrated at the film's lack of respect for it's audience in piecing every puzzle of a film cut into thousand pieces, just so it feels like an abstract work of art. This could have been a short, amazing retrospective film about the futility of life but ends as a futile film that fails to give the audience or its characters a closure, defeating the very purpose of art, that it keeps criticizing for more than 2 hours. It might be definitive art, but it is definitely not a good film.

Her thoughts are an extension of Jakes thoughts and when they talk to each other, its a combination of Jake imagining how this relationship in his head would play out, and him having debates and discussions with himself about topics like movies, plays, his views on life and time, etc. When they argue, its Jake arguing with himself and doubting his views on certain topics and moments in his life. Its a form of his own self criticism/self hatred. When you think of a topic in your mind, you dont think of each sentence from beginning to end individually, your mind is constantly interrupting and changing the thoughts that pop up within it. Its the reason the young womans clothes change color. Its the reason Jake is seemingly able to read her thoughts, because they are his own real world thoughts seeping into the fantasy that hes trying to suppress. Its the reason characters seem to teleport from place to place. Its the reason Jake seems to get distracted by things in the real world such as the swing set, or how the word “wow” is an all purpose exclamation. Jake is constantly changing details - whether big or small - about the fantasy. Like I mentioned before its why the characters clothes change, but its also why his parents change age, and why the band aid on his dads head is switching sides. Jake is forgetting little details and trying to find different places in time to place his fantasy.
